Alexis Smith

Alexis Smith is CEO of a climate tech start up, chair of the intellectual property and governance committee for an IP aggregation company and is in the Data Advisory Group for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
She is passionate about stimulating creativity and innovation to affect change for a better world, whilst championing diversity and inclusion within the workplace and technical industries at large. In 2019 she was recognised by the Geospatial World Forum as one of the geospatial industry’s top leaders, accepting their coveted Geospatial World Start-Up of the Year Award at the Geospatial World Forum in Amsterdam later that year.
- Alexis has been active in invention and R&D for over 20 years, filing patents in various commercial and industrial sectors.
- She has found her dyslexia assists with problem solving, it being especially useful in her previous role as a moderator for the UKRI £900m post-doctoral funding mechanism through the Future Leaders Fellowships, as well as critical and systems thinking.
- She has held executive and non-executive directorial positions, including World Geospatial Industry Council, chair of the technical committee for the UK Water Partnership (UKWP) and a senior expert for the digital expert panel for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
- When time permits, Alexis is a keen sportswoman who enjoys skiing, running and sailing. Her Yacht Master certification enables her to indulge her passion for sustainable travel.
